This is an awesome RTS that I was generously given an advance review copy of, and it is great and awesome in that order. First I should put relevant links in...
http://www.pocketwatchgames.com
http://store.steampowered.com/app/286000/Tooth_and_Tail/
http://www.gog.com/game/tooth_and_tail
But really those links should speak for themselves. But this is awesome, it's a fantastic real time strategy game that really makes you think in the way you used to have to, instead of having your hand held through everything. And the setting is absolutely right up my alley and wonderful, all the units of various species make sense and have their proper abilities, and they're also adorable and cute and kill each other with extreme prejudice. (He had me at sniper vixens) And all the fun of World War I weaponry! I can't say enough thanks to Andy Schatz for giving me a promo copy, I hope you like this game as much as I do.
Obviously this got my attention because it is similar to my setting of Wildstar (no no that one), so if you are interested in other intelligently-written talking animal people with traits that actually matter (I'm looking at you StarFox) you should definitely check out my writing at http://www.writing.com/authors/L1011Widebody and also check out my novel at https://www.rabbitvalley.com/item/9574/Foxhunt-By-Rich-Hanes I am really working hard to put out more content but honestly playing this game is just so inspiring... it's like the game that was made for me.

In which nobody dies, at least.
Taking on this challenging game, playing as both sides in this campaign to show off both the US and USSR's hardware and 'nauts.

Wandering and wandering.
This time I'm going to be playing not just Fallout 2, Interplay's sequel to the smash hit RPG Fallout, but I'm also going to be playing the Restoration Project. The Restoration Project is a mod created by the No-Mutants-Allowed user Killap, designed to add back in much of the content that was cut from Fallout 2 due to time constraints. It also fixes multiple bugs and adds some additional graphics features.
Your home, the village of Arroyo, is dying. The tribe founded by the original Vault Dweller from Fallout needs you to venture into the Wasteland to retrieve the fabled Garden of Eden Creation Kit, a device said to 'bring life to the Wasteland'. Along the way you'll meet more strange mutants, unique characters, and even some old friends. You'll even get a chance to revisit some of the locations from Fallout 1... but the Wasteland has changed in the last 80 years...~

Okay, now we should be able to go continue on how we should like... man, it sucks when diverging timelines rectify.
After their first surprise hit, Westwood Studios upped the ante with Command & Conquer: Red Alert. A landmark game in the annals of gaming history, Red Alert introduces to the commander all new naval and air units, including strike fighters. All of this is just so great, and it was released right around the time internet gaming was picking up. Back in my day, there were tons of skirmish matches being played all over the globe. Cool or what?
Of course this is not to denigrate the single-player campaign. Westwood rolled all the dice with having an actual Stalin actor. And the cut-scenes are just much more than the original C&C could deliver... really, Red Alert is essentially 'Command & Conquer: More Edition'.
The great thing about Command & Conquer contrasting to other real time strategy games, is that the sides are not balanced at all. The Allies have all the naval ships, the Soviets get all the cool air power, the Soviets have big damn tanks and the Allies... don't? And the base defenses... this game made the Tesla Coil iconic. It is really great in all the ways.
I will be playing through the DOS version (or maybe not) because I have the original discs and such, suck it Origin. And man is this gonna be some fun or what!

It's quite amusing to me that skirmish engagements in Red Alert inevitably devolve into a re-enactment of the of the First World War and a War of Attrition.

Puns!
Iron Storm is an alternate-history type first person shooter that takes place in a universe where World War I continued because the Bolshevik Revolution failed. It's notorious for its difficulty, but I find the setting and backstory quite fascinating.

Go home, Mechwarrior. You're drunk.
Have you ever installed an old DOS or Windows game and found all kinds of driver difficulties and soundcards not working and such? Well this is the most, worst, best, craziest thing I've ever seen an old Win98 game do... -- www.twitch.tv/l1011widebody/b/326117800&utm_campaign=archive_export&utm_source=l1011widebody&utm_medium=youtube

You just put those mechs right back where you found them. You got that, wet nose?
The music is still hauntingly beautiful reversed.
