There's been a lot going on around here over the last month, hence the Massive Fish Tank Updates. Like so many others, we were hit by the super freezing temperatures and snow and ice. We had rolling electrical outages and some not so rolling outages. Right after the storm we also moved. So for the last month things have been crazy and all over the place. Watch this video and see what the aftermath was and whats going on as we move forward.

I did a major overhaul on mini pond. It was splashing too much water on the floor and was just too loud at times. I felt like I could give the fish an upgrade and deal with the issues all at the same time. Check out this video to see what I did. let me know in the comments if you think I should do something else or add something to it.

I like to use Java Moss in most of my tanks. My fish and shrimp seem to love it, and it helps with the water quality. It also makes a great refuge for baby shrimp and fry. That being said, I'm tired of buying it. In this video I make a setup to see if I can grow it so I can have a continuous supply to stock my tanks.

Fish stores aren't the only place to purchase fish. In this video I talk about reaching out to other aquarium hobbyists to get fish that, for whatever reason, your local store may not carry. I'll show you the awesome deal I got when buying cherry shrimp from a local hobbyist.

I would recommend that you Feed your Betta fish once a day. Sometimes twice a day is ok, but I usually don’t feed them more that once a day.
On the label of fish foods they will tell you to feed fish 3 times a day. You can do that but make the feedings smaller than usual.
Overfeeding is a very common mistake which could cause 2 very common problems for your betta fish including:
Digestive problems causing your betta fish to get bloated and become suseptable to disease Cause cloudy water in your fish tank from the ammonia created from the extra fish poop which could lead to stressing out or killing your betta fish.
On how much to feed your fish, the rule of thumb is to feed as much it will eat in about a minute or two.
Remember, you need to remove any food that the fish does not eat in a few minutes, so an idea would be for you to feed one or two pellets at a time for 2 minutes so there will be no uneaten food to clean up.
CAUTION – Betta Fish will sometimes try and gorge on their food and have digestive troubles as a result – kinda like humans ;). Don’t overfeed them. You can tell they are full by the belly bulge.
Overfeeding is usually more of a problem in home aquariums than underfeeding.
Bettas can be finicky, so don’t be alarmed if your fish doesn’t eat the food on a particular day, especially when you first get them. It might take up to a week before they give in and eat.
Don’t worry, and he won’t starve in that period. Just remove any food particles uneaten after a couple of minutes, and then try again the next day.
It is best to try feed your fish at the same time every day. This gives them into a routine. After a while, you will swear they’re wearing a wristwatch because they will start wagging their tail and coming to the surface at the appointed feeding time.
If you feed your high-quality fish food and occasionally give him or her a special treat, this will no doubt improve the quality of your fishes’ life and keep them healthy and happy.
