Good afternoon, I’m still reporting on French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen and the EU.
Former Italian Prime Minister Encrico Letta told an audience yesterday that if Marine Le Pen wins the presidency in France’s in France’s May 7 general election:
“It will be game over.”
“I think the European Union can’t survive with Marine Le Pen … representing France.”
Letta said that the French elections are even more than the German ones, held 6 months later on.
[“If] a younger pro-European wins, [I would be] very optimistic.”
The younger candidate in the French elections is Emmanuel Macron, the 39-year-old investment banker was the French Minister of the Economy, Finances and Industry until last year.
But Macron is not just any old investment banker. He was an investment banker for Rothschild & Cie Banque who closed a high-profile merger deal between Nestlé and Pfizer.
During his time in the French Socialist Party, he supported Bill Clinton’s “Third Way” policies.
Two polls published on Sunday gave Macron 25% to 27% for Le Pen. Apparently the other candidates in the race will eventually coalesce their forces behind Macron to try to defeat the rising Le Pen.
Le Pen is a strong opponent of the illegal immigration, the European Union, the World Trade Organization, the World Bank’ the International Monetary Fund, and the Euro.

An erstwhile commenter, Athena Creamer, from Florida, recently made a proposal that struck a nerve with me.
She suggested that perhaps Rand Paul could introduce “The Truth in Eligibility Act.”
Well, as I said when Rand dropped out of the Presidential race, we need him in the U.S. Senate, and this would be a very good task for he and his staff to take on.
The basic point here is that candidates need to prove their eligibility. It is simply insane to have the primary contests progress this far with one candidate either totally incapable of proving his eligibility to become President, or at least, totally unwilling.
Candidates must be able to prove that they meet the eligibility tests set in the Constitution.
The Supreme Court will probably never rule on the definition of “natural born citizen”. Why? Because the situations that would bring such a question before the nation’s highest court would almost certainly be highly charged politically. Therefore, any decision would only deepen division within the nation instead of create healing.
No, the Supremes see this is a political question. But the problem for Congress is that Democrats will, for quite a while, consider any definition that would rule out and therefore stain the memory of President Obama, as a non-starter.
So, unless the Supremes decide to take up this issue, we are trapped in a conundrum that will not allow us to resolve this thorny issue legislatively except with THE most watered-down definition ipossible.
On July 25, 1787, John Jay wrote to George Washington, the presiding officer of the Constitutional Convention:
“Permit me to hint, whether it would not be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government, and to declare expressly that the Command in chief of the American army shall not be given to, nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.”
While the Committee of Detail originally proposed that the President must be merely a citizen, as well as a resident for 21 years, the Committee of Eleven changed "citizen" to "natural born citizen", and the residency requirement to 14 years, without recorded explanation after receiving Jay's letter. The Convention accepted the change without further recorded debate.
More than likely, the members of the convention felt that the term “natural born citizen” was self explanatory, however Congress needs to cast this in stone before the next presidential cycle begins.
Certainly the term refers to a citizen whose allegiance to the sovereignty of the United States of America, and to no other, is beyond question.
We see the concern for allegiance to the U.S. even in President Andrew Jackson’s 1832 veto message:
“Is there no danger to our liberty and independence in a bank that in its nature has so little to bind it to our country?.... Controlling our currency, receiving our public monies, and holding thousands of our citizens in dependence.... would be more formidable and dangerous than a naval and military power of the enemy.”
In these days where well-funded outright attacks on nationalism are common, prudence would dictate a very restrictive definition of “natural born citizen”, such as: born to two U.S. citizens on United States soil, with exceptions only for on-duty military, intelligence and ambassadorial staffs. That would cut out President Obama, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio.
But of those three, Cruz’s hold on any definition of the “natural born citizen” qualification is the most tenuous, if not totally non-existent.
People in other countries never comment on this situation, probably because they really can’t believe that the basic qualifications for President of the United States have never been specifically defined by law.
If the Supreme Court will not tackle this difficult issue, then, the question becomes; is a definition that diminishes allegiance to and protection of a totally sovereign United States of America worth doing at all?
The answer is probably, “yes”. Let’s get what we can in law, and then tighten it up further later on. And that will give the Supremes some standard to measure future challenges against.

Newly released emails of Hillary Clinton show that as Secretary of State she repeatedly originated and distributed highly classified national security information in direct violation of law.
Experts sifting through the thousands of printed pages of emails have already discovered scores of classified emails. Copies of some of these emails have just been released showing in some cases that the information contained in the emails was so classified that all of the text has been erased – or redacted, except for the classification codes.
These codes mean that according to federal classification authorities, the information was classified the very second it originated – in this case, July 1, 2010.
In the case of this July 1, 2010 document, Hillary’s message is the only content in the entire document that has been redacted. This means that she was not the helpless recipient of classified information, but the originator.
In other words, she deliberately created and intentionally disseminated classified information via an unsecured, unsanctioned private email server.
In 2009, President Obama signed an executive order that U.S. officials who negligently disclose classified information to unauthorized individuals are subject to any and all federal sanctions provided for by law.

Is Hillary Clinton seriously considering exiting the presidential race for perhaps a combination of sagging poll numbers against the surging Trump, combined with grave health concerns?
Possibly!
Yesterday afternoon, Friday, Sept. 2nd, a CBS reporter named Hannah Chanpong tweeted out that a Clinton insider told her that at least some of Clinton’s staff was resigning in the wake of yesterday’s release by the FBI over worries that Clinton may drop out of the race.
The tweet was quickly taken down as Miss Chanpong had perhaps not fully recognized that CBS supports Clinton; it does not release damaging stories about her until forced to do so to maintain some semblance of competition with their peers, NBC and ABC.
Here is a screenshot of the actual tweet.

The tweet went out at 15:09 yesterday afternoon.
Here is Hanna’s Twitter profile. She’s been with CBS for 7 years. It looks like that’s Hannah in green, next to Clinton.
However, her Linkedin profile is much more interesting. She graduated from Northwestern U. in 2011 and went to work for CBS Radio News. After 6 months, she jumped up to “60 Minutes”
She was quickly snapped up by David Rhodes, President of CBS, and worked as his assistant for 2 years and 5 months.
Then, she moved up to Associate Producer/Digital Journalist and has done that for the last 2-and-a-half years.
So, the bottom line is that Hannah has been around for awhile. She works hard and is trusted – especially by folks she has gotten to know on the Clinton campaign.
She obviously was told something by a Clinton campaign buddy which she knew was newsworthy, and tweeted it out.
In other words, yes, this is real news, from the real inside, and Hannah is a real reporter. Congrats, girl!
I doubt Clinton will drop out unless her health just won’t allow her to continue. Despite her sagging poll numbers, the legions of folks who have been feeding off her connections are going to do everything possible to prop her up and push her out there yet another day.
But for a campaign staffer, it’s different.
They are like farmers in a way – they have to make their money when the sun shines, and it only shines this brightly once every 4 years.
If their candidate is about to crash, there is still another 2 months of good money to be made. A good staffer can make $20 to $30,000 a month.
Plus, if your candidate wins, there are lots of good-paying jobs that will open up to a loyal staffer.
So, when there is this kind of blood in the water, it means something very real is going on.

According to the Wall Street Journal, citing only anonymous U.S. officials, the Obama administration ordered the NSA to not just continue spying on Israel intelligence in general, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his aides in particular because they opposed the Iran Nuke deal.
As a result, conversations between Israeli officials and members of the U.S. Congress were included in the 2015 electronic spy net.
The sweeping up of all conversations between U.S. lawmakers and Israeli officials was redoubled earlier this year, ahead of the March visit to Capitol Hill by Netanyahu to speak out against the Iran Nuke deal.
Most troubling is as of 3 months ago, it was still going on.
The super-sensitive intercepts were sent to the President, himself, but reportedly had the names of Congress persons redacted from the secret material. Right!
The new bombshell report in the Journal will bring troubling accusations of the Executive Branch of government using the nation’s premier electronic spy agency to spy on the Legislative branch, a direct violation of the separation of powers concept which is the bedrock of the U.S. Constitution – clearly an impeachable act.
Senator Rand Paul, a Republican presidential candidate, reacted angrily this morning:
“I’m appalled by it. You could see how it would stifle speech if you’re going to eavesdrop on congressmen, and that it might stifle what they say or who they communicate with.”

So I just had to take a break. It’s been a pretty-much unbroken chain of no days off for the last 18 months. I just had to stop and recalibrate. Even now, it’s 6 pm and I just had to take a caffeine tablet to keep me from falling asleep right now.
So that’s enough of the whining. Back to it.
Oops, I just can’t let this go one more minute without mentioning it. I sincerely thank every one of you that dug deep to support us in the last 3 months of this campaign. We just could literally not have stayed on guard duty as hard and as long as we did without that support.
This was a really, really close election – and if the Never-Trumpers have their way they may still try to overturn it.
Bottom line -- that ain’t gonna happen. Trump is in the White House on Jan. 20th and the result is 3 or 4 supreme count picks for the home team. But in addition a few other lovely parting gifts, the destruction of socialized medicine, the hard stop of any future illegal immigration, the forced deportation of thousands of illegal alien criminals, kiss your beloved Iran nuke deal good-bye, etcetera, etcetera.
In the words of that mighty statesman Somebody Obama:
“Elections have consequences.”
And here are the consequences. If you are a hard-working, law abiding citizen of the United States – no matter what race – no matter how much or how little money you have - you will have nothing – ZERO – to fear from President Trump. Nothing but good things will come your way for at least the next 4 years.
If you are here to do this nation harm, you better be packing up for Canada now. At least that way, your departure from home will be at a time of your choosing.
Back to my point – those of you who supported us – may played a pivotal role in making this election happen. I don’t know to what extent - and we’ll never know for sure this side of the pearly gates – but the narrowness of the wins in a bunch of these states was between half a percent and 2 percent.
And I’d like to think that you guys helped move the needle this year, when your country needed you the most. Thank you. Thank you. Now ---
I think it’s just hilarious that all of a sudden the new Democrat talking points are all centered around dropping all the Clinton investigations lest the incoming President Trump – wow – President Trump – I hope this isn’t just a good dream –--- or the incoming President Trump will be branded as vindictive!
So, “vindictive” -- that’s going to be the new Democrat talking point from here to the inauguration. Just watch.

And so they unloaded all their prisons of the killers and the rapists and sent them to the USA while the borders remained totally open under Obama.
That’s what Trump said, Juan – oh new head of the Democrat propaganda machine.
Trump never said all Mexicans are killers and rapists. I know you don’t have anything you feel is more effective, but it’s a lie and every time I hear you say it going into this new year, I’m gonna be right here to call you a liar.

Today’s Forbes magazine online has a piece by Tim Worstall, a Fellow at the Adam Smith Institute - a libertarian think tank in London.
Worstall - to my shock and approval – is calling for Greece to not only leave the EU, but the Euro as well - and reissue the Drachma.
“… the Euro is a bad idea for everyone … the European Union itself is a bad idea…. So, yes, Greece really should leave the Euro, should have left the Euro 5 years ago.”
Well, welcome to the party, Mr. Worstall. Five years ago, I was calling for Greece to leave and reissue the Drachma.
25 years ago, I wrote my first book on the perils of over-consolidation of power which is the essence of the European Union.
Mr. Worstall then quotes Hans-Werner Sinn writing in the New York Times:
“… credit has delayed a Greek bankruptcy, but it has failed to revitalize the Greek economy.”
No, and it never will until the average Greek citizen sees what’s in it for them. If your economic policy does not create Buy-In by the general public, that policy is doomed to failure.
EU policy towards Greece has been all about squeezing the life out of the nation, not making it economically viable. All the benefits of EU policy go only to the banking class.
Then Mr. Sinn continues as though he has been closely watching my reports in the last five years:
“Greece could reintroduce the drachma as the only legal tender.
“The devaluation would induce Greeks to buy domestic rather than imported products.
“Tourism would get a boost, and capital flight would be reversed. Rich Greeks would return with their money, buy real estate and renovate it, fueling a construction boom.”
Exactly right on, Mr. Sinn – EXACTLY!
Greece; it’s never too late to choose the Drachma. It is your ONLY way out.
