Channel Update - The Car Diaries Hi all, We hope that you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well at this difficult time. Much like yourselves, both myself (Matt) and Craig are stuck at home for the foreseeable future. As frustrating as it is, this is something we all need to do keep ourselves, our family, and your family safe. Suffice to say as we currently stand at 985 subscribers, we aren't going to be in a position to celebrate the magical 1,000 subscriber mark in the way we had originally planned, but we wanted to let you know that we are still here, we still have a lineup of very special cars to film as soon as we are allowed out again (Some of which may well be shown in this video......), and we genuinely wanted to thank all of you for liking our content enough to subscribe to our channel! Welcome back to The Car Diaries, and episode 2 after surviving episode 1! On a serious note, thank you to everybody who has subscribed, liked and commented on our previous video, we genuinely really hope you enjoy this one and can see the step up in quality compared to episode 1 (especially in regards to the sound). So of course onto the video itself, episode 2 featuring the 670bhp 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid lent to us on a drizzly Scottish Sunday afternoon by our good friend John. This car is genuinely jaw dropping for the overall package it provides its owner, and we were truly lucky to be able to enjoy it in some harsh conditions to truly exploit its power from the V8 engine and all wheel drive chassis. It is front-engined and has a rear-wheel-drive layout, with all-wheel drive versions also available. It is the only sedan manufactured by Porsche as part of its strategy of expanding its market. The production version of the Porsche Panamera was unveiled at the 13th Auto Shanghai International Automobile Show in Shanghai, China, on April 2009. In 2011, hybrid and diesel versions were launched. In April 2013, a facelift to the Panamera was announced, making its debut again at the Shanghai Auto Show. A plug-in hybrid version, the Panamera S E-Hybrid, was released in the U.S. market in November 2013. The Panamera range received a re-design in 2016. The second generation Panamera was revealed on 28 June 2016 at a special event in Berlin, Germany. Codenamed 971, it is 35 mm (1.4 in) longer, 5 mm (0.2 in) wider and 5 mm (0.2 in) taller than the first generation Panamera, with a 30 mm (1.2 in) longer wheelbase. The interior features a redesigned dashboard layout, with touch-sensitive surfaces replacing the previous generation’s array of buttons. A centrally mounted tachometer also harks back to the 1955 Porsche 356 A. The new car includes two seven-inch displays in place of the dials, as well as a 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring online sat-nav, Apple CarPlay integration and an updated voice control system. Under the bonnet is a new engine range, with only the Panamera 4S, 4S Diesel and flagship Turbo available from launch. In the GTI Performance version, the engine’s maximum power is boosted to 230 PS (169 kW; 227 hp). Both GTI models develop a maximum torque of 350 N⋅m (258 lbf⋅ft). The standard GTI accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 152 mph (245 km/h). The GTI Performance has a top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h) and takes 6.4 seconds for the sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h). Despite its performance, it is in insurance group 29E – five groups lower than its predecessor. Both versions of the GTI are equipped with a Stop/Start system and fulfill the EU-6 emissions standard that takes effect in 2014. With a six-speed manual gearbox, they attain the same low fuel consumption value of 47.1 mpg‑imp (6.00 L/100 km; 39.2 mpg‑US) (CO2 emissions of 139 g/km). This means that the latest Golf GTI offers an 18 per cent improvement in fuel economy compared to the previous model. With the optional six-speed DSG gearbox, the two GTI models achieve fuel consumption figures of 44.1 mpg‑imp (6.41 L/100 km; 36.7 mpg‑US) (equivalent to 148 g/km CO2 for the standard GTI and 149 g/km CO2 for the GTI Performance). Buyers who opt for the £980 Performance pack gain not just an extra 10 PS of power, but also upgraded brakes and a limited-slip differential. The front differential is a new development, dubbed VAQ. This provides more neutral and agile driving behaviour and allows higher speeds to be carried through curves. The Ferrari 812 Superfast (Type F152M) is a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive grand tourer produced by Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari that made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The 812 Superfast is the successor to the F12berlinetta. The car has an enlarged 6,496 cc (6.5 L) version of the F140GC V12 compared to the 6.3-litre engine used in the F12berlinetta. The engine generates a power output of 800 PS (588 kW; 789 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 718 N⋅m (530 lb⋅ft) of torque at 7,000 rpm. The 812 Superfast's engine is, as of 2018, the most powerful naturally aspirated production car engine ever made according to the manufacturer. Despite having possessed powertrain technology expertise in forced induction (mainly turbocharging) and hybrid disciplines, Ferrari has made clear that none of those technologies are being incorporated in the legendary front-engine, rear wheel-drive, V12-engined berlinetta design—at present and in future—due to heritage reasons. The transmission for the 812 Superfast is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox manufactured for Ferrari by Getrag, based on the gearbox used in the 458. The 812 Superfast has 20-inch wheels at the front and the rear. The tyres are Pirelli P Zero with codes of 275/35 ZR 20 for the front tires and 315/35 ZR 20 for the rear. The brakes are carbon-ceramic Brembo Extreme Design disc brakes, which Ferrari claims have 5.8% improved braking performance from 100 km/h to 0 km/h as compared to the F12berlinetta. The brakes are borrowed from the LaFerrari, with a diameter of 398 mm (15.7 in) at the front and 360 mm (14.2 in) at the rear. Ferrari has stated that the front-engine, rear wheel-drive V12 vehicle platform—part of the brand's heritage—is not easy to refine and has presented various developmental challenges. As such, a combination of complicated aerodynamics technology is used to complement the 812 Superfast's chassis control system. It includes a mix of active and passive aerodynamics to improve drag coefficient values over the F12berlinetta. The front of the car is designed to increase downforce and includes intakes for front brake cooling, as well as ducts to increase underbody air flow. The bonnet of the car also has channels to move air through to the side of the car for additional downforce. The rear diffuser of the 812 Superfast has active flaps that can open up at high speeds to further reduce drag. Ferrari claims that the 812 Superfast has a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph) with a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) acceleration time of 2.9 seconds.
